Close Gaps in Premiere Pro Sequence

January 26, 2019 By Premiere Pro Tricks 5 Comments

So you have a bunch of clips all separated out by blank spaces between them and you want to delete all the gaps. With an easy change to your Keyboard Shortcuts in Adobe Premiere Pro you can do just that.

First off open your keyboard shortcuts under the Premiere Pro CC dropdown menu.

Second, go to the search bar and type in “gap” to find the “Close Gap” and add a keyboard shortcut to it. I selected “Shift+Delete” for mine. Then click the OK button to save your shortcut.

Finally head over to your sequence timeline that has all those annoying gaps and hit the “Shift+Delete” keys and PRESTO! the gaps are gone.

It would be helpful if you could show how to access the keyboard using Windows. Not everyone uses a Mac.

Thanks for the comment. I don’t have a Windows computer to show examples on. But if I did I totally would. Accessing the keyboard shortcuts is pretty standard across all operating systems in Premiere Pro.

I agree with you, however, a quick google search would have answered your question. Just typing this much of a reply took me more time than finding your answer.

Scroll down to “Find Keyboard Shortcuts”
“In Windows, choose Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts”
And to “Premiere Pro Tricks”, again, took less than a minute. Might as well just to avoid these questions in the future.

You’re like the most passive agressive troll Ive seen in a while. This post is meant to help you and be thankful for that, if it isnt helpful than move on. Im sure you have another response as good as your first two.
